I have come to own my grandpa's old boat he has a 50th anniversary 100hp Johnson motor (1972 from what my research tells me). I am not with the motor right now its at lake cumberland in KY. I will be down there this coming week and was curious where to start with it. I figure its been sitting for about 3 yrs without use, my grandpa always took good care of the motor he was a bit of a mechanic. I have decided to make this my project fixing up the boat, motor and trailer. I dont really know very much about maintenance on motors of this type I have been looking around and watched some videos read some things and have a few ideas but was looking to you all in the community to really tell me what needs done with this. I do first plan to pull out and fuel thats in the tank cause obviously its gonna be old. What next thugh is my question. What type battery does it need what sort of things should I do before trying to crank this over for first time in awhile? Thank you for any help I really do appreciate it.
