1971 evinrude 9.5 just purchased not running correctly

1971 evinrude 9.5 just purchased, sat for 2 years started up fine and ran great engine sounded great-
once warm slightly warm- engine shut down it would re start but then shut down- had to keep choke on- i was thinking clean out insides carb and fuel system with seafoam or something similiar and see what happens any ideas
 
No ideas but the facts are -----Check to see if there is spark that will jump a gap of 1/4" or more on both wires.--------Pull the carburetor apart for cleaning and pull the flywheel to inspect for cracked ignition coils ( very common ) , ignition coils that are cracked need to be replaced.

do not have flywheel puller but if need to i a m sure can borrow one
 
Testing / inspecting is the way to go.--------------------Waterpump working properly ???--------------Fuel pump working properly ???----------------Will spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more ???------------Thermostat inspected ? installed as many folks take them out for some reason.---------I own about 10 of these motors , so know a few thing about them.
 
The water pump is really streaming out the water and when running it sound like a big bore 2 stroke. I will start on it once the weather cools down- was just outside push mowing around the pasture field- whooped now,.. Was going to go out- however dont want to put the 7.5 evinrude on the boat. i will wait until i can get the 71 running right. some of the lakes around here are fine for fishin with even electric however the 71 should work great on my 18ft tri hull
