Looking for some help on a used motor that I purchased, original owner indicated that the motor ran great 4-5 years ago. Motor did not run at all last year. I currently have no spark anywhere and would like to know the best way to proceed. Please Advise."

first,pull flywheel,clean the points,gap at .010..clean cap,rotor,etc... now,there is anti-rev-,cutout spring,in there,that when it gets worn,..instead of rotating,it lays up against the kill ,contact...thats where i'd start.....get u a factory........service manual..."

I greatly appreciate the feedback and will do what you suggested with the points,cap and rotor,etc. I am not familar with the rev rotation vs. reg rotation, could you please clarify for me!
Thank You in advance for your time. I also have a tilt and trim on this motor that is missing the internal parts for the manual release part that is attached to the tilt motor any idea where I may find the guts for the manual release valve. Please advise!"

"w/out the rev cutout spring,..i have had those in a test tank,..while cranking,and it would fire and RUN in reverse...great pwrhd,...just screwey ign system....at the least,u need a NEW rev cutout spring.it rides around crank,thinning itself...gets loose,..wont wk any more.m rel valve..i will assume,u have the accessory,tnt unit..many of those parts may not be avail,any longer..

howver,nowdays,a better repl,for those units,..is the CMC TNT bracket...much better,thatn trying to mess w/the old tnt...however,..to be honest,i would not put it on that mtr...i think,u r in for some serious,hd -aches.....trust me...if u could get an 80's motor...in good shape,..then,i would consider the tnt situation."
