1970s 650 mercury engine wiring harness?

Hey folks, I’ve got a 1975 or 1976 Merc 650. It has wiring issues like many of the era. I’m looking to see if I can get an engine wiring harness replacement. The one I’ve got is full of cracks and corrosion. I know that these are obsolete or no stock anywhere anymore, but I’m hoping that somebody can post a link or contact to a rebuilder. This motor has very good compression and runs well, I would like to keep it on the water for another few years yet.

Serial number in case it matters is 4261307
Thanks in advance.

https://www.oldmercs.com/product_p/84-60795.htm Pricey though.
Maybe try and rewire old harness. There was a post a good number of years ago where a guy split the plug and soldered fresh wire in.Took a bit of time and patience

Thank you, yes that is certainly worth looking into. Someone else where brought up the question of the “trigger” and how good it is. He said they have all failed. Where do I find it, and how can I tell if it’s any good?

I really don’t want to spend $200 on a wiring harness just to find out the trigger goes down sometime this season

EDIT; I just read up on the triggers on these things. I’m afraid to disturb anything on this motor for fear I won’t get it running again or have to spend big bucks to do so. Is there anyway of testing the trigger without taking it apart to visually inspect it?

The trigger is built into the distributor.Disconnect the black wire from the switch-box,ohm it out to the block, you should get continuity.
