1970 Johnson 60 converting from amplifier to MSD ignition

I have a 1970 60 Johnson 60ES7

I have a 1970 60 Johnson 60ES70B.I read in the search topics that this could be done.What are the pro's and cons? My amplifier(Motorola)wiring is frayed at the base of the unit and is not firing.Also it is not charging.Could somebody tell me how to make this conversion.Thanks
