Motor runs great with choke almost all the way closed. If i open choke it acts like it is starving for gas. Any ideas??

The carburetor is fouled, clogged. Remove, clean, and rebuild it. Be sure to manually clean the high speed jet that is located in the bottom center portion of the float chamber with a piece of single strand steel wire.
