This engine is in my 1967 ski nautique. i"m close to completing my restoration and wanted to convert from points to electronic.

is it better to go with a elec points kit like Pertronics Ignitor, or get a whole distributor setup?

RH motor, distributor is ok but would need cleaning

thanks for your help

I put a Pertronix in an M440 2 years ago. Very EZ to do, and it works great. I also got their low impedance coil that they suggest for the Ignitor 2 kit, which let me get rid of all the ballast resistor junk.

Smart move! Got stranded once when the plug fell out of the ballast resistor--another way those dumb things can fail.

Accel makes a marine distributor for a Chrysler? I thought the only choices were factory or Mallory. You aren't putting an automotive distributor in there, are you?

Do you have to get rid of the the stock style coil in order to get rid of the ballast resistor?

Would have to get a coil with internal resistor.

Accel eh? For marine? hum, interesting. Will have to look into that.

If someone could tell me who makes new electronic distributors for a counter rotator, I'm all ears!

They spin the same way but they are not the same animal as the one on the standard rotator engine. I'll look at Mallory again Jeff but I was never able to find one there.
