"This engine seems to have a magnetic pick up so no points to adjust. I have a fresh battery, and installed a diode inline from start term. on the starter to the purple wire on the terminal strip at the back of the motor as Joe suggested. Then I hooked up my 12v trouble light to the blue wire heading to the coil and observed no glow on the light when cranking. I guess I need a new pulse pack? Funny thing is that I found the (-)term. battery lead with only two strands left holding it all togeather before I started this process ( which I repaired) and also noticed some ground con. , one under the motor cover and one upfront under the dash (small guage wire )that have been hot.I bet with all these bad conn. that the new pulse pack the previous owner replaced went bad?
