So yesterday I finally got this motor going after sitting for the last couple of years, the first time in the yard she ran really well, and you could just hit the key and she fired right up, went to the lake and wouldnt run at all, brought it back to the house replaced the plugs and she fired up so we went back to the lake and once again won't run, but it will start for a few seconds off starting fliud then she dies. I had already put all new fuel in the tank so its not old gas, switched the filter and pump from a parts motor, and even swapped the carbs out and same thing. Turns over fine but like it isnt getting gas. Any one have any thoughts this makes no sense to my why it wont run now.

No, I just looked to make sure needle and float were good, I will have to go back thru them, but do you think that all four carbs are bad, I swapped out ther original ones and have the same issue.

If they were mine I would check them. But that is up to you. All you have to do is pull the plugs out of the float bowls and check the jets behind them. A packing wire and some compressed air works real good.

Like I always say, most carburetor problems----aren't. You should be looking for something else, like an ignition problem. It was good enough to fire new plugs, but not good enough to fire them once they got a bit of oil on them. Likewise with the starting fluid. That stuff will fire with a weak spark, where gasoline won't

Just a follow, there was a wire with a diode on it had been grounded when it shouldnt have been, did rebuild both carbs with parts from here and she runs like a champ, thanks to those that pointed in the right direction, now if I can get it to go in reverse it will be great.
