68 Johnson 20hp. Clean motor. Owner said he could not get running. He installed a new fuel pump. For $100 bucks, how can ya go wrong? Gave it a bill of health.
125lbs compression both cylinders.
Checked spark. OK
Pulled carb, pretty clean but it had the old cork float so I bought a kit and rebuilt it.
Flushed the fuel lines and pump on the motor with clean fuel. Sprayed some fogging oil in the cylinders and installed the plugs.
Gave it a bunch of pulls and heard it fire. Stuck it in the drum and got it to run. Pumped water pretty good. Adjusted the slow speed on the carb., gave it some throttle, it died and won't start. Pulled the flywheel. All clean. Good coils, points at .020, plenty of fuel and spark. My arm is getting tired of pulling. Never had a small omc motor as simple as this that won't run. Any ideas??

Check the coils real good, make sure they're not cracked on the underside.
Hows the fuel supply?
Good Luck

Coils looked good. Not original but did not remove them. Fuel was clean. I'm thinking remove all the ign components and replace the points and condensers, although the ones on there look fine.
Thanks
Matt
