"I just removed lower because of water in the lube. I have a manual but I'm not totally sure how to rectify the problem. The impeller wont't turn. Also, 1 bolt that I assume holds the gearshaft bearing broke. The plunger on the solenoid is broke at the very bottom end. Is this unit repairable/cost effective? If so does anyone know if I can just order a seal and bearing kit and solenoid. There aren't any shavings or signs of metal in the lube just water."

"you might wanna scrounge for used lower unit in working condition. this will have you on the water faster and save time and $ and headaches.
I hear they are getting scarce but still around.
I have been told varying stories. One marina says If i hammer up the lower unit, I'm better off looking for a used but newer Manual Shift evinrude because OMC stopped making parts for them in 2001. Another says its no problem to get parts. i dont know who to beleive."
