I have a 1968 evinrude 100 hp I'm looking for the distributor rotor. Parts house said not available
Is there away to hold the rotor to keep time? As mine has no way to keep time The two small wires that holds the rotor to time are gone
Used, new or repair something got to work
help needed thanks to all

no not the sensor rotor. the secondary side of distributor the black one right under the cap. Question - Is it safe to say that the fly wheel holds that rotor tight to the crank? There is a wave spring on top of the rotor and below the flywheel.

I saw the sensor rotor. There is one available on ebay but ouch. Find salvage yards they may have one. Or go to the AOMCI website and put up a free want ad somebody there may have a line on one.

The black rotor should / did have a " key " on it to put it in the correct position.------------Myself I would look at using epoxy to put the a key back on.------And it should not be hard to find that item used.

Bolted down the flywheel. The first time engine was back firing. The second time could not get off the key fast enough started right up. Got my fingers crossed.Going to put in water this weekend. 100HP on a 14 foot glass boat ought to fun
The next time I have apart I will drill a hole in the rotor then epoxy a key to it. The flimsy little wire as a key to hold rotor true bad idea. But all is well with out.Happy boating.
Thanks all-u-all

No, the rotor when installed at the factory had a substantial key on it .-----That key fits in the notch in the crankshaft to line it all up.-------Sounds like someone made a mistake and broke that key off the rotor.-------------I think it would be an easy fix with epoxy.---------Other opinions will vary.---------Just picked up a 69 V-4 for parts.----------Best way to go is to look for a parts motor as many parts are NLA or they are proud of these parts as they are pricy.

The rotors are identical on that type ignition setup #382424.

NOTE: A metal wave washer is on top of the rotor... there is NO wave washer elsewhere.

There is a Reverse cutout spring BUT no other wave washer!
