1968 55 hpJohnson needs Lower Unit

55 Hp, Hydro Electric shift...What units will interchange??

Bought as is..OK, but I hit a gusher of rusty water when I opened the lower unit. Can someone give me an idea of what lower unit will work or where to research the information? Seems to start and run just fine.

HI!

You can put inside any shift/lower unit,from 55hp 3 cyl and up. I put inside mehanical shift from 1979 70hp,works fine.I have old '68 55hp in parts,the shift is good.
