1968 40hp electric shift

Hi all
I have just purchased a boat with an Evinrude 40 electric shift.
the engine apparently has only 150 hrs and looks immaculate
the owners grand daughter tells me that it hasn't been run in over 10 years.
what is the best suggested recommissioning procedure and is there anything I should be looking out for especially in relation to the electric shift.
the serial number is A32337 model number 40873c.

The electric shift is very good and reliable.-----You must make sure that the 10 amp generator is working properly.--Install a new impeller too.

Many thanks for your reply I've heard all sorts of bad stories so you have given me some confidence that the engine is a good one and worth resurrecting.

Guys thanks for your advice so far.
can anyone point me in the right direction for some replacement wiring looms.

Hi all I take it no one knows where I can purchase a replacement wiring loom for this engine.
That being the case where can I find a complete wiring diagram so I can have one made?
