I have an 18 hp evinrude and A.) would like to know the oil to gas ratio and also if any one knows how to tell if I may have Burt a ring? I am getting a dark oily color of gas out of my motor and doesn't look good at all. It is not frozen up but won't start with out starter fluid. Spark Plugs are great I just replaced them, but I did blow my impeller which is why I think I may have blown a ring. Any suggestions?

Ok so I have been running 50:1 ratio and believe that is right but you can never be sure enough.

50:1 is the ratio.----------------Check your spark on both wires , it must jump a gap of 1/4" with a snap you can hear.------Do a compression test if you are worried about rings.
