Hey guys im trying to clean the valves on my 66outboard would anyone know where the location of the valves and how to remove and clean them please be as detailed as possible thanks guys

The reed valves are found on the front of the block.--Unless mice built aa nest in there they generally need no maintenance.---What is your motor doing / not doing that leads you to believe they need attention ?

It sounds like you are looking for the intake and exhaust valves like one would find on a car, lawn mower, etc. There aren't any. It is a two stroke engine. You might be interested in googleing the subject to see how a two-stroke engine works.

The reason why is because for some reason i cannot pull start the engine i can crank it with a battery that why i thought the valves might be sticky and not opening and im getting to much pressure i did have the engine lying on its side for a while not sure it that done any damage

Sorry, but the reed valves have absolutely nothing to do with you not being able to pull the motor over.--------This is a 2 stroke motor and does not have valves that are operated by a camshaft.------Laying the motor on its side does not matter at all.--Unless of course there was a chance of water ( rain ) had a chance to get into the engine via the exhaust outlet.

So....does it run if you crank it with the starter or not? If it does run ok, then there is nothing wrong with it. But on the other hand, as the previous poster suggested, it needs to be mounted, preferably on the boat so you can grab the rope with both hands and haul on it. If you think you can hold it down with one hand and pull the rope with the other, you are a better man than I am.
