1966 Evinrude Model # 3602 3hp Folding Lightwin impeller change.

Folks, I'm new to the Forum so please bear with me. I could use some help. I'm not sure how to remove the impeller from the driveshaft of my folding lightwin. The solid pin and the coupler on the top of the shaft prevent me from removing the impeller in the traditional manner. My 1966 service manual states that I may need to dismantle the gearcase. Doesn't say how though. Do I just pull the shaft straight up from the pinion gear? Not sure.

Nothing special here.-------I believe you just pull the driveshaft out of the gearcase.-------------When re-assembling I usually have to hold the gearcase upside down.----The driveshaft will slip back into the pinion.----No major surgery required at all.

Racerone. Thanks so much for your help! Great forum. Can't wait to put a new impeller in my Lightwin!

That was the fix! Pulled the driveshaft straight up from the pinion gear, replaced the impeller, turned the lower unit upside down. The spline went right back into the pinion gear. Thanks for the Great advice.
