1966 Evinrude Lightwin folding 3hp Powerhead Removal

Hi, I've got a 1966 Evinrude Lightwin 3hp that I'm trying to save. Its been overheating, but runs and the water pump/impeller are good. After removing the cylinder head, found a TON of clogging with sand/salt in the water jackets around the head and cylinders. Cleaned that out and reflattened the head mating surface with sandpaper and put on a new head gasket. Still overheats. Opened the exhaust clover and didn't see any additional blockage. So my next step is to check the inlet passages on the under side of the motor, and this is where I've got myself stuck. I can't seem to figure out the correct procedure for separating the powerhead from the mid section for this motor. If I just try to take the 4 bolts holding the powerhead adaptor plate to the midsection there's a roll pin in the driveshaft above the adapter plate that won't let the motor come off with the adapter plate attached, but I can't take the adapter plate off without first separating from the midsection since the adapter player bolts come in from the bottom. The only other option appears to be to drive to punch out the drive pin on the bottom of the upper drive shaft (where it goes into the coupler for the folding lower section), and pull the whole shaft out with the motor. Is that really how it's supposed to be done, or am I missing something?

I can't get access to 3 of the 5 bolts attaching the adapter plate to the powerhead until I separate it from the midsection (they are on the underside with the bolt head inside the tube of the midsection).

Unfortunately, no, those are both talking about the lower drive shaft in the lower folding unit when changing the impeller. My issue is with the upper drive shaft and trying to get the powerhead off (it's a folding motor, so there's two drive shaft sections that meet in the middle with coupler and pin).

You rotate the shaft and try to get the pin lined up with the slots .Keep lifting and turning the drive until it falls through.Pain in the azz

Maybe but it's was really intended for new people with same issue.not alot of info out there on how this is done.Do appreciate the timeline observation.
