The engine cranks and runs but

The engine cranks and runs but will not Idle. I ordered the Manual and saw that I do not have the Idle Speed Adjustment which should be located on the fuel connector bracket (it's missing). Should I order one and if so where or can I get it to Idle without having the Idle Speed Connector? Thanks
 
Always check spark quality and

Always check spark quality and compression when trouble shooting.Spark MUST jump at least a gap of 1/4" on each cylinder.That connecter is the idle stop. The mixture adjustment is on the carburetor (low speed) the high speed jet is fixed with no adjustment.
