1966 60hp Johnson -Small hole in motor?

Hi, I needed to pull boat out of the water because it was stuck in reverse -looks like I failed to tighten the shift rod in a coupler properly.

But before checking that I wanted to check the foot oil. About half a cup of water spilled out the drain followed by oil. Looks like I didn't seal the foot properly last time.

And then I noticed a small hole beneath one of the bolts holding foot to motor. Gear oil was coming out of it.

Strangely I do not remember ever noticing this hole. There are no threads in it.

I'll just come out and ask; is that hole supposed to be there?

Attached are 2 pics.

Thanks

I can't see the small hole you speak of... BUT... the unit has many small drain holes designed tot let water drain out of the various cavities so as to prevent freezing and cracking of the unit in the northern freezing temperatures of Winter.

However.... gear-lube shouldn't be oozing from any of those drain holes.
