Just bought this boat. Motor c

Just bought this boat. Motor cranks and runs great. But put it on the water & idles in forward & reverse fine. But when I trottle up fast the rpms on the motor go up but nothing else. If I thottle up slow at 1/4 trottle or a little less the boat starts slowing down & the engine rpms going up.I called the guy I bought it from & he said last time he took it out it ran ok just not as fast as it had been.

"Hopefully you just have a pro

"Hopefully you just have a propeller hub slipping problem. If so, you can get it rexhubbed at any reliable propeller repair shop.

Installing another propeller will tell the tale quickly."

" looking good " does

" looking good " does not matter. Your prop has a rubber hub and it may very well be slipping.

"Mark the hub and the propelle

"Mark the hub and the propeller with a magic marker or by some other means, then run the engine so that the problem takes place. Now, check those marks. If they now do not align as you marked them, the prop hub is slipping.

The propeller(s) are actually three pieces, the bronze hub that has the shear pin hole, vaulcanized rubber, and the actual propeller. The vaulcanized rubber holds the propeller in place to the hub (absorbs shock etc). When that rubber fails, the prop can slip."

Sorry guys had a brain f*&

Sorry guys had a brain f**t
I took the prop off & put a rod in the shear pin hole & could turn the prop in my hand.
Thanks
