My 650 idols a little fast and

My 650 idols a little fast and a little rough and stall in gear (forward and reverse.

Also I do not see water spitting from the motor.

Any suggestions?

"firstly it seems time to change water pump impeller, should be done every 1-2 years religiously. dont run it unless you are certain it is circulating water, check the tell tale hole for blockages. if its clear u then need drop the lower leg and inspect the water pump assembly and the 1st stage water inlet at the bottom of the leg.

as far as the running rough and idles fast it sounds like either a timing issue, or your idle air mixture is set incorrect to lean or to rich, or the carb needs a good clean out and rebuild."

I've worked on 1950's evinrude's including complete rebuild of a 1956 7.5 hp and a 1956 30 hp. They seem easy. I have the Selco book on the Murc, but they seem more complicated. Kind of worried about doing the work myself."
