"Engine has run beautiful for years; until it had a leak in the cover of the fuel pump. We have replaced the gasket in the fuel pump. The engine is now very hard to start, when I do get it started it will run at a high RPM only and want to die if I back off the throttle. If I keep it at high RPM it will run for a while then quit as if you hit a kill switch.
Any ideas?"

Have you pulled the flywheel and checked for bad / cracked ignition coils??

We did change the points and condensers and spark plugs are new.
