1965 evinrude 60 hp no spark

hi i recently bought a 1971 glastron boat with a 1965 evinrude 60 hp motor on it and it turns over but no spark, i read some where the safety switch could be bad it has a automotive starter solenoid on it is there a way to bypass it to see if thats the problem or is there another reason its not getting spark???

Could you list your model # .Have you checked your points make sure they are clean, or use a omh meter to check your coil ?

The safety switch prevents cranking of the motor ( in gear or throttle open too far )-----------Nothing to do with getting spark.---------------This is equipped with the magneto ignition you will need to clean the 2 sets of points and see if that gets you spark.Replace the condenser.------Maybe the coil needs to be tested as well.

I assume you're checking spark at the spark plug leads.

Check the spark directly at the coil. If you have spark here, replace the rotor.

Those rotors had a habit of grounding out causing no spark on all cyls.

thank you all for your help and suggestions. i hit it with the ohm meter whan i got home i was gettin power from the coil so there were 2 wires one on each side of the motor white and black, i pulled both off turned key and it purred like a kitten with a full belly. long story short
the black wire was grounding out somewhere. left off runs like it should.
