1964 Johnson 28hp rx-12 Transom Mount

I am currently working on restoring this engine for my bass tracker, and I am running into problems with the steering. my boat has the teleflex cable steering, while the motor is not set up to handle that. I was wondering if there is a possibility to get a new transom mount, or some way of mounting the cable, so I can use the steering that is already in the boat. Thank you for your help.

Run to a boat shop and get the adapter kit.-----------Or if you are on a budget just get a " tilt tube " out of an outboard junk pile and weld some brackets on it.-----Make it so it will mount just so that your existing cable can be attached to it.
 
You want a SA27256P Universal Transom Mounting Kit. Get it right here at marineeengine.com at a discount. I gotta tell you though, it will work but not well. Steering arc will be restricted because of the design of the motor. The attachment point is too far from the steering swivel point. Trying to correct that creates other problems such as restricted motor tilt.
