I have a 1964 Chrysler 20hp motor. The model number is 20701. The motor does not run. I’m trying to find out how many turns out I need to turn the fuel adjustment to get it to fire.
I’ve been turning it out 1/8 turns at a time but this is quite time consuming. Can someone help me?

Has it fired at all???Have you checked for spark that will at the least jump a gap of 1/4" or better???Have you sprayed a bit of fuel into the carburetor to see if the motor will respond to that???

"If you are getting spark, then make sure the plug lead with the metal band is on the top plug.

Are you referring to the highspeed or lowspeed needle. If you have the engine on 'Start', then it uses the highspeed needle. Start with the needle turned out counterclockwise 1/2 turn from lightly seated and advance 1/8 turn at a time. Stop when you've hit 1 1/2 turns. Make sure you haven't flooded it.

Once it is running, adjust the highspeed for optimum rpm, then throttle it down to adjust the lowspeed.

In both cases, turn the needle clockwise until the engine starts to spit, note the position, turn it cclockwise until it bogs down, note the position and then set the needle halfway between the 2 spots."
