"I am new to boating, kinda, and i just purchased my first boat. It is a 12ft open v-hull with a 9.5hp Johnson outboard. The boat is in good condition, but i cant get the motor cranked. The info that i got from the previous owner is that the motor runs great, but he hasn't cranked the motor in 2 yrs. He ran all of the gas through the motor when he shut it down. All of the fuel lines have been replaced. other than that it is what it is. The motor looks great other than a few webs. The tank was empty and clean and the primer line and bulb are in perfect shape. I cleaned the bulb in the motor and made sure all the fuel lines were clear. I also changed the spark plugs. All fuel is making it to the carb, and it has turned over and hit a lick a couple times, but i cant get it to run. I would really appreciate any knowledge i can get.

Thanks alot
CW."

"I bought one of these motors

"I bought one of these motors this spring and I was new to it too. The post above is a good start. There's not anything about this motor that cant be fixed, the parts are avalible, and for the most part are reletively cheap. Your best bet is to get yourself a service manual, it's a time saver. My motor can be glitchy at times (carb) but so far its taken me anywhere I want, and has gotten me back, no sweat. I fish, and use my motor four or five times a week. Excellent little motor."
