I am stumped. I have replaced both coils, points, condensers, carb kit, and plug wires and still won't start. Have fresh gas and have spark. Compression is 70 lbs each cyl. What am I missing?

Can you try pouring about a tablespoon of fuel into each sparkplug hole and then seeing if it will start? Put the plugs/plugwires back on first, set the throttle lever to about 3/4 throttle. Try with choke on and choke off. If it starts, you have a carb problem. If it doesn't start, it's probably timing. Make sure it is in a test tank when you try to start it, I don't think you can get earmuffs on these motors.

Those compression numbers sound low, but these motors didn't have tons of compression to begin with. Mine runs fine on 65 psi in each.

How about the metal filter inside the gas tank? Are you sure that you have fuel coming to your carburettor? Did you set carburettor float level correctly? It should be level when you have carburettor upside down in your hand. What was the condition of the gasket between carburettor and intake system?. It is important to tight the carb nuts evenly when putting it back to the powerhead. Did you also cleaned your carburettor inside, when putting new carb kit.

Thanks for the reply. The 3hp will fire on ether but is just not getting gas. I will remove carb again and try to figure out why.

Thanks for the reply. I am getting fuel from the tank, just not to the cyl. New gaskets all around. Tomorrow I will pull off carb again and check float position.

The high speed jet is screwed into the carburetor bowl.----Way inside after you take the drain plug out.------All the fuel must go through it for operation.-----Make sure it is clean.-----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" on a test device ?
