1963 Mercury twin 110 won't run

I have a 1963 Merc 110 engine outboard that will not stay running. I just purchased a new tank and fuel hose assembly. I can usually get it to start, not always, and then it sputters out unless I constantly squeeze the primer bulb. Any ideas on what to try next?

I've been messing around with it for a little while now, and I can now get it to start every time within 3-4 pulls. I noticed that the primer bulb is not staying hard as the motor runs. So to keep it running, I have to keep pumping it. I checked all the connections for the fuel line assembly and nothing seems to be leaking. So it's just not holding pressure? Not sure what to do.
 
The bulb does NOT need to be hard once the motor is running.-------If you have to keep pumping it to keep the motor running there may be a hole in the fuel pump diaphragm.----Or there is an issue wiith crankcase compression that drives / operates the pump.
 
Maybe it needs inspection / new diaphragm.----Or dirt holding a check valve open.----Easy fix.-----But if you have lots of money then a new pump is an easy fix.
