Does anyone have a manual for

Does anyone have a manual for a 1963 Johnson V4 75hp outboard? I am looking for the part number for the add on generator. My motor has the bracket but no generator.

Any help would be great!

All blocks had the bracket.Is yours a magneto ignition fired motor or electric shift??.The electric shift motors have an alternator.If yours is in need of the generator you will need a belt and a voltage regulator as well.I can post part# s later today.

Does that mean that it should charge the battery without the optional generator?

It has the alternator under the flywheel and it is a 20 amp unit. So check it out and see if it is charging like it should.It should have an ammeter on the dash (was standard equipment when new). It should also have the big box with the diodes/ rectifier mounted inside the boat.

No Ammeter, but this motor came off a different boat. There is one extra wire in the harness. Maybe it is the hot side and if I ground the other side of the meter??

I'll take a closer look as soon as the snow melts off my boat tarp.......

An ammeter is not grounded! You should find yourself a wiring diagram and check the complete installation.Playing with that set-up can be expensive.Spring Lake looks like a perfect place for boating( in the summer). It is a pity that we have winter.If the weather was like Florida you likely could not afford to live there.

Yes, Spring Lake/Grand Haven is a great place for boating. I grew up living on a boat every summer in Grand Haven. I can't wait for the weather to get warmer.
