Novice: rebuilding engine and put it back together but the pistons only turn 1/4 turn and stops.
Took it apart and tried turning with head and armature off but only turns 1/4 way. Could I have put the pistons in wrong. I put new rings on.

Likely a problem with pistoms.-------Post picture of pistons with cylinder head off.------------Those 63 models are a very nice / desireable motor.

Thanks for replying.. I will do that..I do know I should have slanted the heads to exhaust but If I did or not I will find out. My first rebuild as a retiree I enjoy it but am not a mechanic.

I get an error message on the upload.... But I guess you can see the pic
Conecting rods upside down OK Thanks
Back to tearing it down Up side are they marked.

Actually, after thinking on it a bit more, I don't think it would be possible to install them upside down. The offset is to clear the counterweights on the crankshaft. But I've never tried to install them upside down either. So, ??

Well I will take it apart and recheck. It takes me awhile but I need the practice. Thanks for all your help. I did rotate them around before in the housing before I assembled and they did go around but when I put every thing together no go. Maybe I didn't tighten them and the needles got
loose. It will take me awhile I have to travel but thanks for your help and also with the sending of picture. I don't know why it didn't send.

Working on engine again.. I switched the pistons and the crank rotates now but according to my manual the flat side of the rod should face toward the center bearing but it doesn't. If I turn the pistons around to face the center bearing the slope does not face the exhaust port.

Is it really that easy man do I feel dense

When I switch the pistons around the crank doesn't rotate
I tired removing the wrist pin to turn the piston but it wont budge.
