I can get this motor going after I rebuilt the carb but then it dies out it is like it empties the bowl on the carb and then dies out like it doesn't fill back up the bowl on the carb how can you adjust the float or is it self adjusting. any suggestions would be great.

did you rebuild the fuel pump? when you have the motor running, before it dies, start pumping the fuel bulb, if it stays running you need to rebuild the fuel pump.( by you pumping the fuel bulb you are forcing fuel through the fuel pump or to say it another way, you have become the fuel pump).

Its like when I get it going it will run and the bulb stays hard then it will start chugging and jumping then the bulb goes soft and it dies?? i have tried to keep it going by the bulb hard to say what is there to rebuild on the fuel pump and do you think the parts would be available?

If you rebuilt the carb you should have had the float valve out and replaced it. The float on that carb should assembled then held upsidedown with the float bowl removed and the float should be parellel to the casting of the carb, or ever so slightly lower at the opposite end than the hinge. Make sure to check that the float hinge is not cocked and moves freely. If it were me I'd check the vent on your tank first before I messed with fuel pump.

It is definitely loosing its prime some how just not sure should the gas tank be cracked open? Thats how I have it cracked open I can almost keep it running pumping the bulb?? How can I test the fuel Pump?? And when I try to start it it is like spiting and sputtering and then it catches and runs for like two minutes without any real throttle control and then it just dies out? any help would be great I have about 150 bucks invested into this motor and just wondering if it is worth continuing.

Well you sure can test the fuel pump... and its free. Take it loose from the motor, then use the screws that hold it to the motor and hold the pump together with nuts on the four scews. The pump should be held together tight enough as if it was mounted to the motor. Pump the bulb, if fuel comes out of the middle hole (air pulse port from motor) the pump needs rebuild or replacement. Im not sure, but I have'nt looked to see if they even make a rebuild kit for this pump. You may have to take a step back and look through the fuel delivery system from one end to the other. Start at the tank, does it leak fuel all over the place? Is the vent clear? Is the fuel line wet with fuel from cracks in the line? Does the bulb build pressure and hold it for more than 5 minutes? Is there an inline fuel filter thats clogged? Is the fuel pump good? Is the carb truely clean and rebuilt properly? Is the fuel itself clean and fresh?

Does it have good compression? Good spark?

I decided to order new points and condenser as well I put the coil in last week So I am waiting for my parts in the mail while I am I will try testing the fuel pump, one thing is for sure I would be lost without this site thanks for the help.
