I just picked this up and I want to see if it is worth working on.

It has all the controls, but no ignition switch.

I have a wiring diagram for it, but I'm lost.

I put power direct to the starter and the engine turns but I see so spark.

So i want to put it on the mount, hook up fuel and get it in the tank, but want to make sure I have it wired up first(correctly)

Is there any tricks to checking for spark or something to look for to see if i have it hooked up correct?

The block(power head) looks rather new and so does everything under the hood

Thanks in advance.

I don't want to buy a owners manual unless I know it is worth spending any more money on it

First, check the compression. There's no sense of putting money into a engine if the compression is bad.

Does this engine have magneto ignition or automotive ignition? Spark plug wires are at the top side of the distributor (automotive) or lead straight down down out of the bottom of the distributor (magneto).

Pertaining to wiring..... why are you lost if you have the wiring diagram?

The instrument cable wiring harness... the harness that would be connected to the ignition switch, choke switch, etc.... What color are those wires?

Thousands of parts in my remaining stock. Not able to list them all. Let me know what you need and I'll look it up for you. Visit my eBay auction at:
