"I have a 1962 evinrude 25hp that will not start. It was starting for a couple of seconds and shutting off, but absolutely nothing now. It has good compression and is getting fire to the plugs. I have cleaned carbs. Would like to check the points. Does anyone know the correct points setting for this motor or have any other suggetions as to what to look for."

Check for cracked coils. This is a common problem on those models. Also pitted point contacts.
