Getting desperate for help as I am nearing the end of my ability to troubleshoot an electrical issue.
First off, the boat has been very well maintained and garaged most of it life. Excellent condition. I had a short in one of the wires going to the electric shift. When this happened it blew the 60 amp fuse in the control panel. Wire fixed, fuse replaced. Then came an intermittent no crank that developed into a no crank. Determined it was the starter solenoid so I replaced it. The new solenoid quickly failed as well. Checked all wires, cleaned connections and grounds. Installed 3rd solenoid, ran in tank for approx 10 min and am having systems of another failing solenoid. I did not have a chance to check the voltage when it was running. My only guess is maybe the voltage regulator is bad and cooking the solenoid? When running, the ammeter would intermittently show charging. At a loss, don't know how to test the regulator or if reasonably possible.
