" Can anyone tell me the proper color for the tilt grip and control cover on a 1961 Johnson 75?? I have pulled all of the emblems off my moter shroud to repair some severe cracks. I am ready to repaint it warm white.
The existing tilt grip and door/cover appear to be French Silver. Since I see other evidence of this motor having other year parts (like electric shift door on a manual shift engine), I presumed that these two darker pieces were from another year and should be warm white also.
However, my son suggested that this might actually be the correct color. A look at my black and white motor owner's manual gives the impression that they should be a darker color than the rest of the top cover.
Are these two pieces what is meant by 'trim', and should the color be fr silver? I don't remember this from the sixties, but it might be the case.
Any advice will be appreciated.
