I recently bought this engine and was wondering if someone could tell me what year it was made and is it still possible to get a copy of the owners manual.

Thanks

There should be a tag with a model # on it.----My guess is 1966 or 67.----An 18 HP owners manual should be easy to find in my opinion.

Not an FD, 18 hp, no thermostat. Still has the cast bosses for a different cowling support, I'm thinking a later model QD variant. The engine should be a Sportwin so where did you find a Worktwin? Interesting...

Like done many times it was a marketing venture to get rid of old inventory.----Shelves full of BUCCANEER / ELTO parts.----Rebranded as a " WORKTWIN " for a few years.-----Not the same internally as the 18 HP either.----But an 18 HP owners manual will suffice.-----Have a 15 HP Johnson WORKHORSE myself.

Gale . Viking , Buccaneer , Sea King and Elto were all produced by OMC.-----I believe dealers were upset by this " off brand " marketing.----So then they were stuck with inventory.----Solution is to market them as " work " motors.
