1960s 40 evinrude lark IV

I recently was given a 1960s evinrude 40 hp lark IV and it doesn't have controls are there any years that will work. I have a 1974 evinrude 50hp..what I'm really asking is will the controls interchange.

Yes it's electric shift.. no I don't have the wiring harness

You are going to need the electric shift control box !----You need the wiring harness and junction box with the voltage regulator.--------You will have to make sure that the generator is in working order too.----Your location is ??-------Later models did not have the junction box and stuff was mounted inside the lower cowling.-------Model # is ??
