1960 Evinrude 40HP Wiring

I hope someone can help me. I picked up a 1960 Lark 40HP and it came with a wiring harness and what used to be a switch. I purchased a new switch (the old was destroyed) and started to wire it. At first when I turned the key to the right it immediately tried to start so I moved one of the cables and now it seems to work correctly. Can someone help me with the two leads red & black cables that aren't connected go to. Is there a wiring diagram on this?

I will probably have to replace a bunch of these old wire but they seem to work for now.

If I recall, early magneto ignition systems used a different switch than later the CDI systems do. You need to verify you have the correct new switch.

Just make sure that you do not apply 12 volts to the ignition coils.
