1958 Johnson 5.5 hp (cd-cdl-15) parts question.

I have a 1958 Johnson 5.5 hp outboard. The water pump housing needs to be replaced. I'm told the part is not available. Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance for the help.

You can get an entire water pump repair kit that will have the housing inside. The part number is 763758 which supersedes kit 391391.

I should point out that the impeller in this new kit is different from the original design. It uses a smaller (around 1.5" diameter) impeller as opposed to the original 2.5" one. The benefit here is that the impeller should pump water a little stronger and wear out slower.

Unfortuneately the housing is more expensive then the entire kit. I use this kit on my 1961 5.5Hp Johnson and it works great.
