Hello, I started working on a 5 horse buccaneer today that has been setting for twenty years, it looks good and rolls over ok. I need to get two new coils, points, plug wires, ect for it any ideas ? I also have a 1914 Blakely that I should have running soon. Any help on the Buccaneer would be great,,, Thanks

I believe that motor was made by omc and therefore most of the ignition parts are the same as a 5.5 hp evinrude or johnson from the same period...those parts are available on this site from sierra and you can do a visual comparison....not sure about the water pump...you might try to locate that first

You might try over to aomci.org. someone there might have a parts drawing they could post for you. Buccaneer was the name that Gale used to sell their own motors. Other motors that they made were for Wards, Goodyear, Western Auto, Goodrich, Gamble Skogmo, Fedway, AMC, Atlas and Spiegel. All the motors shared common parts and were mostly just cosmetic relabels.

Either engine = Mixture would be 24/1. 1 quart of TCW-III 50/1 oil to 6 gallons of gasoline. A octane rating of 87 will be fine.
