1957 10hp carb & air silencer question..

1957 johnson seahorse 10hp. trying to start the engine and the gas bleeds out where the carb and airsilencer comes together. any suggestions?

sounds like maybe float is stuck in carb but you could ask joereeves

Agree it sounds like either a defective/stuck float (old type cork float perhaps?) or the needle valve not seating.

Agreed..... The carburetor is fouled and requires cleaning and rebuilding. The complete carburetor kit is available at your dealership and possibly on this site. The kit that contains everything you'll need including the float is part number 439071 .
