1956 Evinrude 7.5 Fuel Line Problem

Hydros

New member
Greetings,
Just bought a '56 'rude 7.5, and when it runs it is strong. However, it seems to get fuel starved after about two minutes. What is the purpose of an air line and fuel line on those earlier engines? Does the airline pressurize the tank? Or does the tank needed to be vented?

The hoses looked a little cracker/dry.

Thanks

The cap should be closed !------When you operate the primer you fill the carburetor with fuel.-----When motor starts crankcase compression is fed to the tank and fuel flows on it's own.-----Very good system and very reliable.

Bobby,
We are running 16:1, with premium pump gas. Thanks for the website. 2 to 3 psi is not very much. I will check the check valves, filters, and probably replace the line....at $4.21 per foot. I thought airplanes were expensive.

Racerone,
Thanks for chiming in...if they wanted the tank vented it would be vented.

Will keep you all apprised....and will post with answers instead of questions <G>.

Hello, I have some what the same problem. Same motor, it will run for a few minutes and then it quits running. I have to keep pumping the tank to keep it running. Any suggestions?
