Well I learned a little more about this old motor. It is actually a 1957 10 hp with the automatic shift on the throttle. It runs, but does not pump any water, so it get warm very quickly. As I researched how to change the impeller, I discovered this model is very difficult to change. One collector suggested this model be avoided because of the difficulty replacing the impeller. I think I agree. I love to restore old motors to working condition, but I think this motor is not worth fixing. To all others out there considering an older motor, avoid this model, unless you are extensively knowledgeable and don't mind spending too much money on an old motor. It is a very cool looking motor. Maybe someone could use some parts on ebay. I am only out $100 if not.
