More info on earlier thread..

I am having trouble getting motor started cold. Was gonna pull the flywheel....but....one of the three threads on the flywheel is stripped.
Any ideas?

Drill and install a helicoil. Most hardware, autoparts sell the kits.

You could also drill and tap all three holes to 5/16-18

Be extremely carefull with the drilling....... very easy to drill right into the coils, etc.

One of the holes is pretty goobered up (technical term). A 3/8 tap may work. Is this too big of a hole?

Try tapping it to 8mm x 1.25 - It's the closest (larger) to origional 1/4 x 20 thread and you'll have more threads to hold onto.
