1955 evinrude 15hp fastwin. I’m stumped

I bought this engine knowing it had compression. It has spark. I replaced the fuel pump with a modern style fuel pump conversion kit. We got it started, and it would run but only choked. I got a carb rebuild kit and tore it apart, cleaned everything, and replaced the float and everything I could with the new parts. I got the float angle right, repacked everything that needed the cork washers. I set the speed screws to the starting set points. I had it started a couple times and die. Then nothing. I’m thinking it’s a fuel feeding issue. Not sure what else i can try. Any thoughts?

Does spark jump a gap of at least 1/4" , yes or no?----Used a factory carburetor kit ?----Or a cheaper version off Amazon ?

I don’t know about the spark. I’ll have to check tomorrow. I used a kit off of Amazon that said it was for that motor. But it was from china for sure.
