"I,ve been boating on my checkmate for years, always wondering why I could only get up to 60 mph with 150 lbs in all cylinders...I was putting my boat away yesterday and I notice that my prop in barely below the bottom of the boat, meaning my prop is barely in the water! I'm sure that should be at least another 5 or 6 inches lower' am I right????? Anyone know how lower the prop should sit in the water?"

"the cavitation plate(flat plate above prop) should be even with the bottom of the boat or just above it. Bottom of boat meaning water line when running. Any lower will create drag and slow you down, any high and loose stability and efficiency"

"I ran all your numbers and under absolutely ideal conditions your rig should get about 59.5 mph.

Sounds like you are already there. Regardless of what you may read, or hear "from some guy", any given set-up will only produce so much speed.

Also, any given hull design will only allow you to produce a specific speed unless you start altering what the mfg designed.

It sounds like your motor was mounted to attain maximum speed on that set-up. Lowering it to "where it should be mounted" will most likely result in the loss of as much as 5 mph.

If you are looking for more than 60 mph, it's time to buy a new rig...."
