175 johnson motor wonbt idle or run 2nd time

"I have a 2000 175 johnson. It

"I have a 2000 175 johnson. It starts the first time but after you fish for a while and start it back up, it will start but then runs rough, pops, then dies. You start it back up and it does the same thing. The carbs have been cleaned, plugs checked, hoses..Ive been told the last straw is to change the fuel/oil ratio...the boat/motor is almost brand new not used much. It runs great on the muffs, but when in the water it changes. Any help would be appreciated."

"sounds like a quick-start issue.dont chg oil ratio...50/1...still on VRO/OMS pump? Have u had a thorough,not just plugs,tune up?..de-carb?...linkage and synchronization done professionally,...if not i would suggest it.."

Im not sure what the ratio was ...But i did have it thoroughly looked at.. The vro/oms is hooked up. He said he made some adjustments on the ratio and its running good now...pick the boat up tommorow...Im a new bass boat owner so i don't no much about the motors

"quick-start,is an auto ignition timing advance,that should cancel above 96 degrees on some and 105 on the others....if it does not cancel,...it causes a rough idle prob."

"i appreciate your response. I took it to a mercury boat dealer but I knew that they would be honest with me. The boat is a 2000 but its like brand new..The motor hasn't been used much only twice the last 2 years. I'll find out tommorow what exactley he did but he did say that he checked everything and they look really good, but he tweaked the idle speed and the setting on the fuel oil. said he had to use a special tool to do it?"

"I had the same issue on my 2003 Johnson 175 2 stroke.

Changed primer bul, checked hose connections everything.

I did a decarb by filling my racor up with seafoam (modified "Dunk" decarb method) and the issue never popped up again. This was done midway thru 2007 season. Happened just about every trip prior (same exact thing as you described)."
