I have a 1976 175 Black Max and I'm trying to figure out how far it will go on say 6 gallons of mix. I used to have one on a bass boat but that was 20 years ago and I can't remember.
Also I'm curious if I need to be running premium gas.

not very far...you will burn 17.5 gallons per hour at wot if the motor is in good shape and tune..
probably regular gas but not positive about that....

Yep, about 20 minutes if you are heavy on the throttle. You can maybe stretch it out to 45 minutes if you go no more than 2/3's throttle.

My 140 Ev is fed by two, 40 gallon tanks. If I push the motor I can suck those dry in less than a typical day on the water.

Fortunately this is on my cruising boat so it's typically run at a cruise speed, which gives me 13-14 hours of run time (yes, from 80 gallons).

And for your model year, any "unleaded" gas with a 86/87 Octane (90/91 RON) is all your motor needs.

i owned a large boat for 41 years...sold it last year because i could no longer maintain it... kept the 17 foot fishing boat...i knew i was spending a fortune down there plus wearing out several vehicles going back and forth..especially in the last 24 years because i retired that long ago..but i had no idea how much until i got rid of it...but i would do it again if i had a do-over...especially with the family involved...
