Power trim is a somewhat complex hydraulic system composed of a number of seals and valves. The electric motor provides for the movement of the fluid through these valves.
If your manual relief valve is fully closed and the motor still "slips" back down after being tilted up and there is no obvious signs of fluid leaking out anywhere, then you have an "internal" problem (either internal seal or one of the many valves).
Merc has rebuild kits for each of their trim systems and this can be done at home with the assistance of a factory service manual and a good set of tools.
If you are not "comfortably mechanically inclined" this particular job is best left to a pro (or at least a competent backyard mechanic type)..
